Keratea, Greece, June 29, 2018. More than 100 school pupils – aged from seven to 12 – attended the first edition of the Beach Volleyball Summer Festival held at Kaki Thalassa Beach.

This is part of a much wider action designed by the CEV to support the growth and development of the sport across Europe, which the Hellenic Volleyball Federation successfully implemented in cooperation with the Region of Attica.

It was an amazing event held in front of a crystal-clear sea under ideal weather conditions and under the sound of the DJ’s music. The children enjoyed playing Beach Volleyball on the nine specially designed courts on the beautiful beach of Keratea. They learned the ABC and some secrets of Beach Volleyball and at the same time understood how to protect the environment, especially to keep all beaches clean.

At the end of the event, all the participants gathered at the main court for a family photo in order to remember the special day and everybody renewed the appointment for next summer!

“It was our pleasure to organise this festival. The main goal was for kids to get to know Beach Volleyball and we did the first step towards that direction,” said Athanasios Rerras, who is also a member of the European Beach Volleyball Commission.

“I was really happy to see children playing for the first time Beach Volleyball and enjoying it. I am sure that from tomorrow they will seek beaches with nets to learn more about the sport,” said the Secretary General of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, Mr Nektarios Chalvatzis.
