Truly iconic venue in Thessaloniki plays host to 1st Masters tournament of 2018 Panhellenic Championship

Thessaloniki, Greece, June 12, 2018. With a crowd of more than 700 spectators in attendance at the iconic Aristotelous Square in the centre of Thessaloniki, the first Masters tournament of the 2018 Panhellenic Beach Volleyball Championship took place this past weekend.
 
In the men’s final, Dimitrios Niopas and Thodoris Papadimitriou beat Charalampos Sakoglou and Thomas Dimitriadis 2-0 (21-16, 21-17), thus winning their 10th Masters tournament as a team, the most of any other team in the history of the Panhellenic Championship in the last 24 years.
 
Dimitra Manavi and Konstantina Tsopoulou prevailed in the women’s final with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-11) sweep of Eleanna Georganta and Aikaterini Kapolou. The President of the Hellenic Volleyball Federation, Mr Giorgos Karampetsos and the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr Yiannis Boutaris presented the eventual winners of the competition at the truly iconic venue set up at Aristostelous Square.
