The Hellenic Volleyball Federation welcomed the partners of the European STARS programme
As previously announced, the Hellenic Volleyball Federation (HVBF) is actively participating in the European STARS programme (Shaping Talents and Achieving Vocational Excellence in Sports). This initiative aims to develop essential tools and skills that support athletes in transitioning smoothly from their sports careers to professional life. Through this project, partners are working together to identify and cultivate the competencies needed to train athletes comprehensively—not only in coaching but also in areas such as psychology, inclusion, and the prevention and handling of sexual harassment in sports. While the training primarily targets athletes, it is not exclusively designed for them.
As part of the programme’s ongoing activities, a working visit took place in Athens from May 5–9, 2025. The purpose of this visit was to evaluate the progress made so far and coordinate the next steps of the initiative. During this visit, the HVBF successfully presented its work within the framework of the STARS project to the programme partners.
The delegation was hosted by IEK AKMI. On Wednesday, May 7, participants visited the HVBF offices at OAKA, where they were welcomed by Ms. Ada Vafeiadou, Special Secretary and Board representative. A comprehensive presentation was given, outlining the Federation’s operations and highlighting the European programmes that have already been implemented.
On Thursday, May 8, the group visited the Beach Volleyball facilities at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. There, they enjoyed a live demonstration of the sport and even had the opportunity to step onto the court, experiencing firsthand the excitement and joy of the game.
STARS is the third European programme that the HVBF has participated in over the past few years. This continued involvement reflects the proactive and outward-looking mindset of the Karampetsos administration, as well as its strong commitment to social issues and development through sport.
