Saskia Hippe: «I dedicate the award to my teammates»
Olympiacos opposite, Saskia Hippe, was the MVP of the fourth round of the Greek's women national league. The German opposite dedicated the award to her teammates and also said that staying in Athens for a second year, was an easy decision.
1. The MVP award was something that you were chasing? Where do you dedicate the award?
No not really. I play to give my best all the time and want my team to win. It’s a team sport so a good team performance for me is the most important. Τhat’s why I wanna dedicate it to my team, because without them I couldn’t play good.
2. You stayed in Olympiacos for a second year. What was your biggest motivation for this decision? Is the high level of organization in the team?
Yes for sure. I love it here. In my whole carrier I never found a better organized club. People help you anytime and I really have the feeling to be part of a family. There was no reason for me to leave.
3. After 4 games this year, what are the differences in the team from last year?
I think our team has even more potential then last year. We try to play quicker and are working hard to improve every day. Until now we didn’t lose a set, which is already a very big difference.
4. Is the quality of life important for an athlete in order to play better, is the quality of the team or both?
Both I think. As I said due to the team sport you depend on your teammates. It’s easy to spike good if the set was perfect. But also we are no machines, but humans. That’s why it’s always helpful when you feel good also off court. I’m lucky to find both here.
5. How important is to have another German as your teammate?
I think it’s a nice bonus. I like people and different cultures so I wouldn’t have a problem being the only german. But now that jana is here I appreciate it a lot to speak some german and talking about home a little bit.
